| Course contents :
| This Dutch course is specially designed for first-year law students. | |
| | | |
| Course objective :
| The main aim of this course is to provide students with all the necessary linguistic, syntactic and lexical tools to understand general texts and articles about legal issues.
The course is therefore clearly oriented towards reading comprehension. However, the class is taught in Dutch from the start and the other language skills (listening, speaking and even writing to a lesser extent) are therefore also exercised.
| | | |
| Prerequisites :
| The class is taught in Dutch from the start and the different texts and articles studied in class are not meant for beginners. | |
| | | |
| Organization :
| This 60-hour course is taught all year round, 2 hours a week.
Students will make sure to prepare each text actively at home to be able to keep up with the fast pace of the class.
| | | |
| Written notes :
| Students will buy the syllabus entitled "Nederlands voor rechtenstudenten 2005-2006" from Intercopy. | |
| | | |
| Assessment :
| Students' skills will be assessed during a two-hour written exam. The exam will take place at the end of the second term and will include a sight text as well as questions about the language and vocabulary of the texts and articles seen in class. In addition, students will have to read and prepare a number of articles at home before the exam.
Even though all the exam questions are in English, students will be asked to answer some questions in French. French spelling and grammar will account for 2% of the final mark. Illegible answers will not be taken into account.
