Course contents : - Library Information Systems and automatic literature search
- Introduction to informatics
- Internet - Word - Excel
- Electronic mailing
- Health Information theory
- Security and confidentiality issues
Course objective : Give students an overwiew of modern information and communication technology (ICT), in particular heath information systems. The student should also be able to use common software packages which will be useful in preparing his/her thesis. Literature search is also an essential working tool
Prerequisites : Some basic knowledge in hardware and software
Workshops : None
Organization : The course will mainly be taught by Professor François-André Allaert (University of Dijon, France). Some parts will be given by Mrs Françoise Pasleau, head of the Medical Library, and Eddy Husson, computer specialist.
Written notes : Students will receive copies of the slides shown during the course and additional material regarding health information systems.
