Excel in Chemistry

Course contents : After a short presentation of Microsoft office softwares (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), the students will use PC for the presentation of works in relation to the course of Documentation and Communication Techniques and the courses of chemistry.
Each student will be able to use an Excel spreadsheet to build a graph and to simulate acid-base titration curves.
Course objective : The student must be able to use word processing softwares, drawing and a spreadsheet for the presentation of personal work.
A presentation of a report and a research in the form of file Doc. or ppt, including tables, figures, references will be requested from each student.
The scientific information retrieval will be illustrated in the course of "Techniques of documentation and communication" and will be exploited in this introductory course to data processing. Work will be common to both courses and will be the oral presentation object in front of the teachers of the two courses.
Prerequisites : None
Workshops : A room of PC will be at the disposal of the students for the realization of the work.
Organization : The working sessions (theoritical courses and/or work practise) will be organized Fridays afternoon of the 1st four-monthly period in alternation with the course of Techniques of Documentation and Communication according to the schedule communicated in September.
Assessment : The evaluation will be done on the basis of the final report provided in versions paper and electronics. An oral presentation will be organized in January.
