Course contents : This course covers the following subjects: Elementary notions on digital circuits and Boolean logic, binary representation of numbers, main hardware components of a computer (processor, memory, communication busses, ...), instructions and their execution, assembly language, structure and principles of operation of an operating system.
Course objective : Introducing the internal structure and principles of operation of computers.
Prerequisites : None.
Workshops : Exercise sessions.
Organization : Theoretical lessons followed by exercise sessions. The course is given on the second semester.
Written notes : Course notes will be made available at the end of December at the student union press (AEES).
Assessment : A written exam in june. A written exam in september.
