Course contents : The ethnical, institutional and geographical formation of Great-Britain with emphasis on institutions, public law and civil liberties characteristic of the "Anglo-Saxon way".

ULg is a French-speaking University situated in a French-speaking area. The courses will, of course, be delivered in French, as well as the text-books, written and oral examinations, papers and reports. Foreign students are expected to master the language first.
Course objective : Familiarize the student with all aspects of British insularity.
Organization : Durée et période : 45h .théoriques, 1er et 2e semestres.

Lieu d'enseignement et horaire : dept. des Sc. historiques, mardi de 8h à 9h (1er et 2e semestres), mercredi de 10h à 11h (1er semestre), uniquement les années paires.
Written notes : G.M. TREVELYAN, An Outline of British History ou traduction française Précis d'Histoire d'Angleterre, Paris, Payot.
Assessment : Une interrogation dispensatoire facultative sera éventuellement organisée en février sur la 1re partie du cours, écrite (10 questions QCM et une question à rédiger). Examen oral en juin.
