| Course contents :
| The course is focused on the analysis of new organizational forms, issued from recent developments in the corporate strategies of Western companies. On the basis of a symbolic case (The High-Speed Train Company Thalys International), it has recourse to 4 theories, belonging to sociology and economics, in view of building a multidimensional diagnosis and proposing improvements: contingent theory, political theory, conventions theory and transaction cost theory. | |
| | | |
| Course objective :
| Initiation to diagnosis and intervention (students are invited to take the role of a junior consultant) | |
| | | |
| Organization :
| The course is organized as an experiment of distant-learning, particularly adapted to students in continuous training. Only 3 meetings take place in the classroom : the two first and the last one. The remaining parts of the course are structured in 5 missions, of approximately 4 hours each, planned on a detailed schedule during 10 weeks. These lessons must be realized online in groupwork (maximal size: 3) and have to answer the different missions of diagnosis proposed . The final meeting offers the opportunity to present, in front of the classroom and the teacher, a synthesis of the partial diagnoses undertaken during the semester and, on this basis, operational recommendations. This final mission corresponds to an oral presentation of 15 to 20 minuts. Caution : the groups will be necessarily formed during the second face-to-face meeting. No further inscription can be accepted. | |
| | | |
| Written notes :
| The participants must acquire a CD-Rom, entitled « La coordination inter-organisationnelle chez Thalys : support pédagogique au diagnostic et à l'intervention ». This support is available at the secretary's office of François Pichault and costs 15 Euros (deposit). Moreover, they must have a personal e-mail address as well as an Internet access.
They have to download the presentation and the general introduction and have at their disposal on the website http://www.egss.ulg.ac.be/pichault a written copy of all Powerpoints and videos on the CD-Rom | |
| | | |
| Assessment :
| The final evaluation is based on the quality of each group's contribution to the different online missions and on the final presentation of the diagnosis and the recommendations. | |
