Seminar of Operations Research and Production Management

Course contents : The course contains several independent parts dealing with specialized topics in operations research and production management, be it from a practical or from a theoretical point of view: quality management and statistical process control, queuing models, location and distribution, sequencing and scheduling, etc.
Course objective : The objective of this course is twofold. On the one hand, it aims at illustrating the application of numerous quantitative tools studied in previous study years (optimization, queuing models, statistics, ...) while stressing their successes as well as the difficulties which are usually encountered in practical implementations. On the other hand, it involves the study of new models and techniques belonging to the field of operations research and/or production management.

Prerequisites : Advanced operations research (2nd Ing. Gestion) and Production management (1st Ing. Gestion) or equivalent courses.

Organization : Readings and discussion of texts, solution of numerical exercises, case studies. The meetings are interactive and require the participation of the students.

Written notes : Articles, book excerpts.

Assessment : Group projects (computer implementations, reports and presentations) and individual participation.
