Course contents : This course depicts the different strategic and financial principles that are necessary to base a sound evaluation of a company.
Course objective : At the end of this course, each student must be able :

  • To establish a strategic diagnosis of the strenghts and the weaknesses of a specific company and to identify the most important opportunities and threats proposed by its environment
  • To understand which is the true financial situation of this company and to identify how it will generate cash-flows in a near future
  • To build up a scale of values for this company, by intergrating both patrimonial techniques, free cash flows techniques and EVA-based techniques.
Prerequisites : Corporate Finance
Workshops : Each student must prepare, during the course, a complete "Evaluation file" for a specific company, including a strategic diagnosis, a financial diagnosis and a proposition of values for this company.
Organization : This course will take place in Building N1 (HEC),every Saturday from 9.00 to 13.30, from 25.3.2006 to 13.5.2006.
Written notes : The teaching notes associated with this course will be available at the start of the course.
Assessment : Each student has to transmit, before the written exam, a complete report detailing its evaluation of a specific company (40 %).

A written exam is organized in May, incorporating both theoretical questions and applications (60 %).
