Course contents : The course includes the following topics:
-preparation of geological samples;
-presentation of the principal techniques used in the Earth Sciences: atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES); inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and multi-collection (MC-ICP-MS); thermal ionisation mass spectrometry (TIMS); X-ray fluorescence (XRF), electron microprobe.
Course objective : Introduction to several methods frequently used in Earth Sciences
Prerequisites : Geochemistry and isotopic geochemistry courses.
Workshops : Visit of geochemical laboratory
4 Practical lessons with exercices on isotopic dilution, detection limit calculation...
Organization : The course includes two parts:
10H (N. Fagel):
3 lectures of 2H,
4H of exercises;

10H (J. Vander Auwera): 2 lectures of 2H30;
5H of laboratory visit and exercices
Written notes : Notes provided during the lectures.
