Course contents : Following an introduction to the early differentiation of the Earth, the first part of the course is devoted to the tools of geochemistry (trace elements, isotopic geochemistry). In the second part, the successive envelopes of the Earth (core, mantle, continental and oceanic crusts, oceans) are successively studied using the informations and constraints provided by geochemistry.
Course objective : The intent of this course is to introduce the students to geochemistry.
Prerequisites : The course is based on basic principles of mineralogy as well as magmatic, metamorphic and sedimentary petrology.
Organization : 7 lectures of 2H and 5 lectures of 1H each followed by 2H of exercises.
Written notes : Notes provided during the lectures.
