| Course contents :
| The course is dealing with the issue of development and regional planning. It is made of three main parts. The first part is concerned with the issue of development: concepts, methods, major classical theories, new paradigms (such as sustainable development). The second is studying the development at two major scales: the international scale and the regional scale. The third part is related with the development and the planning at four scales: international, national, regional and Belgian. The specificities of the Walloon context is developed at the end of the course. | |

| Course objective :
| With this course, the future geographers will be able to make reference with both, theoretical and practical dimensions of the development issue. The related knowledge have two main objectives: to understand the problems and to intervene within the frame of development and planning. | |

| Prerequisites :
| BAC and first licence courses of economic geography Good basic knowledge of micro and macro-economy. To be open-minded concerning social and economic problems. | |

| Workshops :
| Three worshops are proposed : - review of the scientific litterature - researches on disparity indicators - comparative study on development and planning policy | |

| 15 hours of theoretical courses 5 sessions of 3 hours worshops | |

| Assessment :
