Pollutant Sources. Prevention and Processing Techniques (Water, Solid Waste)

Construction Impact Study on Surface Water

Introduction. Generalities. Definition of the main consequences of construction on surface water. Method of analysis the initial state of a site. Elements to be taken into account. Study of the modifications generated by a project. Modes of transit of a pollutant and techniques to measure flow during floods. Study of the collection, the storage and the physical pretreatment of surface waters. Measurement to remove, reduce and if possible compensate the detrimental consequences of pollution on the environment. Principle of safety devices. Legislative aspects of the protection of surface water. Directives on the establishment of an impact study. Several examples of application will be commented on during the lectures.

Waste and Industrial By-Product Management in Civil Engineering

1) Recycling: definitions, politics, laws and regulations. Genral rules for recycling. By-products: blastfurnace slags, fly ashes, mines, demolition wastes, rubber, bitumens. Municipal wastes: incinerator slags, plastics, paper, glass. Impact on the environment.

2) Design of wate storage landfills.

3) Treatment processes of wastes and by-products.

Geomaterial, Environment and Landfill Sites

Course objective :

Pollutant Sources. Prevention and Processing Techniques (Water, Solid Waste)

Construction Impact Study on Surface Water

To highlight the problems involved in the establishment of an impact study. To define the method to be followed. To apply this method to the particular case of impact research on the impact of a construction on water surface.

Waste and Industrial By-Product Management in Civil Engineering

Recycling opportunities and techniques

Geomaterial, Environment and Landfill Sites

Prerequisites :
