Course contents : The lecture is mainly composed by a didatic presentation with illustration of practical cases. It presents first problems concerned with coastal morphology and ocean actions on coastal protection infrastructures. Design methods of these works are then analysed in order to define the appropriate harbour infrastructures. Important laboratory tests in a wave tank have to be realised : the students, per team, must prove their creativity in front of observed phenomena.

Sanitation (Rivers and Coastal Areas)

Marine and Harbour Engineering Project

This course is a part of the module "Ocean engineering constructions". The informations relative to this course are the same than those relative to the course with reference "Cfr GCIV095-1" : the two courses compose a complete didactic set.
Course objective :

Sanitation (Rivers and Coastal Areas)

Harbour and Coastal Issues

This course is included in the programme of a module "project" entitled "Ocean Engineering Constructions" : the objective is to define necessary basic knowledge to realise a practical project.
Prerequisites :

Sanitation (Rivers and Coastal Areas)

Harbour and Coastal Issues

Workshops :

Sanitation (Rivers and Coastal Areas)

Harbour and Coastal Issues

See previous items. A complete project must be realised in laboratory.
Organization :

Sanitation (Rivers and Coastal Areas)

1er semestre

Harbour and Coastal Issues

See previous items.

Marine and Harbour Engineering Project

1er semestre
Written notes :

Sanitation (Rivers and Coastal Areas)

Harbour and Coastal Issues

The course is very specific and has its own detailed syllabus: it is not necessary to refer to other particular documents.
For any student who wants to improve his knowledge, a library in the ocean engineering field is available and is regularly updated, mainly under department fund.
Assessment :

Sanitation (Rivers and Coastal Areas)

Examen oral + Cote d'évaluation du travail pratique.

Harbour and Coastal Issues

Oral examination + evaluation of practical works
