Course contents : detailed presentation of COD,BOD, N-Kt, Pt in relation with watertreatment

Domestic wastewater characterization and available flowsheets for treatment

Biological treatment : principles, biomasses, stoechiometry and kinetics

Main types of biological treatment

Activated sludge process : principle, design criteria, C/N/P metabolisms; biofloc properties

Mc Carty's model ( for C) and various flowsheets

Collection of wastewater, sewer systems, main pretreatment processes

Individual on site treatment

Anaerobic processes

Main unit processes ( settling, flottation,..)

Chemical treatment applications

Exercices

Visits of full scale facilities
Course objective : To provide to students the basis of the main processes.

To provide the background for advanced cursus
Prerequisites : Basis knowledge in chemistry; physics and biology
Workshops : demonstration of main measurements and visits of full scale facilities.
Organization : 2 h; lectures
Written notes : copies of the powerpoint presentations
Assessment : oral examination ( or written)
