Course contents :
  • Surface and subterranean water resources.
  • The basic parameters of water quality.
  • Basic water use, the effects on quality and quality criteria depending on water usage.
  • The main forms of pollution (origins, characteristics).
  • Urban and domestic pollution.
  • Agricultural pollution and different supplies.
  • Industrial, chemical and thermal pollution.
  • Pollution Identification according to analysis parameters.
  • Damage to water quality due to pollution.
  • Sediments as indicators of water pollution.
  • The ability of rivers to clean themselves.
Course objective : Draw up an inventory of water use and pollution types.

To describe their impact on water resources.
Prerequisites : Basic biology and chemistry.
Workshops : None
Organization : Theory : 12H (4 modules of 3H)
Written notes : A syllabus highlighting theoretical aspects, a list of useful references and photocopies of presentation sheets used in class will be given to the students.
Assessment : Written Exam (without course material in the exam).
