Duration :20h Th, 20h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
Master in sciences and management environment3
1st year of Master's degree in sciences and management environment,3
Holder(s) :Jacques Nicolas, Eric Pirard
Course contents : "Sampling" part:
-purpose of the sampling (in space, in time and sample collection)
-interest of a good sampling
-sampling error
-criteria for the choice of sampling strategy
-basic options of sampling procedure
-sampling in function of space
-number of samples to collect

-informations, models, interpolation
-spatial location
-sampling in function of time
-time, duration, frequency, synchronization
-reference sample, trace elements
-some considerations about sample collection (air, water, soil, waste) and sample conservation
Course objective : "Sampling" part
Introducing the main principles of environmental sampling : choice of localization, time, duration and frequency of measurement, sampling error and sample collection in the field.
Prerequisites : "Sampling" part:
Elementary knowledge of environmental sciences
Workshops : "Sampling" part:
Field exercice
Organization : "Sampling" part:
It is the first part of a lecture including both an introduction to sampling techniques and the contribution of geostatistics for data processing. This first part concerns the sampling and must be given before the part related to data processing.
Written notes : "Sampling" part:
Available (about 60 pages)
Assessment : "Sampling" part:
Oral presentation, based on a case study.
Contacts : "Sampling" part:
j.nicolas@ulg.ac.be
Remarks : "Sampling" part:
This part of the lecture could be organized in various ways, according to the contacts with the principal teacher (E.Pirard)
