Duration :30h Th, 30h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
4th year of the 5 year degree in civil engineering in electricity (electronics)5,5
4th year of the 5 year degree in civil engineering in electromechanics (mecatronics - productics)5
Holder(s) :Philippe Vanderbemden
Course contents : Physical principles of resistive, inductive, capacitive, piezoelectric, magnetic, thermoelectric, ultrasonic and optoelectronic (micro)sensors. Interface electronic circuits.
Course objective : The aims of this course are to:
- understand the physical principles of sensors as well as their respective interface electronic circuits;
- develop practical skills as well as the ability to design and use various sensors;
- to develop an awareness of various sources of noise and errors using sensors (e.g. industrial / biomedical applications and severe environmental conditions).
Prerequisites : ELEC0052-1 : Analyse et conception des systèmes de mesures électriques.
Workshops : Practical courses involve laboratory experiments (5 sessions) about position, speed, pression, temperature and displacement sensors.
Organization : Theoretical lectures (30 hours) : 1st semester.
Practical courses (30 hours) : 1st semester.
Written notes : The syllabuses are available at the "Centrale des cours de l'AEES"

Reference book :
"Les capteurs en instrumentation industrielle", G. Asch et collaborateurs (Dunod 1999).
Assessment : Throughout the year : written tests during laboratory sessions
January : oral exam (theory + lab).
