| Course contents : | The general problem and its fields of applications. Modelling the problem as an integral equation: the Radon transform. Reconstruction formula by inverting the Radon transform. Algabraic methods. Fan beam two-dimensionnal tomography. Tri-dimensionnal tomography. | ||||||||

| Course objective : | Definition and study of the problem of image reconstruction from projection data. | ||||||||

| Prerequisites : | Knoledge of mathematical analysis, linear algebra as well as the following courses: MATH0006-1 Analyse numérique (1e partie), MATH0012-1 Analyse numérique II. Particular link with an other course in the cursus: Upsteam: ELEN0016-1 Digital image processing. | ||||||||

| Workshops : | Each student shall be assigned a specific work (homework) at the start of the course. | ||||||||

| Organization : | This course is taught at the first semester. The intersted sudents should get in touch with the teacher as soon as possible at the beginning of the academic year to fix the schedule. | ||||||||

| Written notes : | Working book: a copy of the slides shall be handed over to the students at the first lecture. Recommended readings: see the list in the working book. | ||||||||

| Assessment : | 1st session (June): homework: 50%, oral exam: 50%, no written exam. 2nd session (September): 100% oral exam. | ||||||||
