2nd "licence" chemical sciences2
Holder(s) :Marie‑Rose Spirlet
Course contents : I) Reminders : Crystallography basic concepts ( symmetry, space groups, reciprocal lattice).
Use of International Tables for Crystallography .
II) Crystal growing.
III) Radiations used in Crystallography.
IV) X-ray diffraction :
- Theory.
- Experimental methods and applications.
V) Neutron diffraction :
- Aspects théoriques.
- Méthodes expérimentales et applications.
VI) Crystal structures determination.
VII) Electron diffraction and electronic microscopy.
VIII) Characterization of non crystalline materials.
Course objective : The principal purpose of the course is to give a maximum of informations
about the possibilities offered by modern methods and technics of Radiocrystallography to solve specific problems met in structural analysis. Each method is developed in order to clearly define its applications and the expected results depending of the studied material.
We also insist on the complementarity of the different technics. The course is illustrated by experimental results from the actual literature.
Prerequisites : Basic concepts of Cristallography.
Organization : The teaching timetable is 1h30' or 2h a week. The day and time have to be fixed with the students.
Written notes : Course notes : Couse abstracts.
