Course contents :

Pathology and general surgical treatments

- Common physiopathological problems; prevention and diagnostic of common complications

Notions of anesthesia and analgesia

The course focuses on the following topics:
- concepts of general anaesthesia, sedation/analgesia, and hypnosedation
- roles of the anaesthetist-resuscitator, including maintenance of homaeostasis during and after intervention
- local anaesthetics and anaesthesias
- epidural and/or spinal anaesthesia and analgesia and peripheral nerve blockings
- acute and chronic pains, analgesic products and techniques
- postoperative analgesia and patient management in the Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Course objective :

Pathology and general surgical treatments

Allow the future surgical trainee to understand the prevention, diagnostic and therapy methods applied to the surgical patient.

Notions of anesthesia and analgesia

Discover and understand anaesthesia and resuscitation, the techniques and procedures which allow the patients to undergo diagnostic and/or therapeutic interventions with the highest levels of comfort and safety before, during and after the intervention.
Prerequisites :

Having passed the 1st épreuve de Docteur en Médecine (1st year of the 2nd cycle in the degree in medicine)

Notions of anesthesia and analgesia

Good knowledge of pathologies and their physio-pathological mechanisms in adults, children, pregnant women.

Ex cathedra course (16,5 hours of theory) during the second semester

Lectures with illustrations, Q&A sessions and demonstrations in operating rooms during practical training
