Course contents : Review of the interaction between the atmosphere and the biosphere, essential for life on earth. Physical parameters of the atmospheric air. Photochemical processes initiated through the absorption of the solar radiation. The ozone layer in the stratosphere. Basic concepts for the treatment of the chemistry of the natural troposphere. Formation, chemistry and evolution of the aerosols. Chemical reactions in the lower layers of the ionosphere.
Course objective : The goal of this course is to give the great principles of the chemistry of the atmospheric air.
Prerequisites : Elementary notions of chemistry ans spectroscopy.
Organization : Oral lectures given according a timetable discussed with the students.
Written notes : The students receive a copy of the transparencies used during the lectures. The list of the reference books is given during the first lecture.
Assessment : Oral examination.
