Duration :30h Th, 80h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
required preliminary complement to register in the "licence" in biochemical sciences8
Holder(s) :André Luxen
Course contents : In its first part, the course is centred on the study of the functional groups, beginning with the simplest (alkanes) and continuing with the most complex ones. The fundamental concepts as nucleophile, electrophile, acid, base will be developed. In parallel, we will introduce the concepts of reaction mechanisms gradually, the stereochemistry involved in the reactions and the various space representations.
In the second part, the course will be centred on the study of the different classes of bioorganic molecules. Along with the study of their properties, we will study the synthesis of sugars, peptides and oligonucleotides.
Course objective : This course covers principles of organic chemistry and includes a study of properties, preparations and reactivities of important classes of organic compounds and their role in living systems.
Prerequisites : Basic knowlegde in general chemistry.
Organization : 20 lectures will be given during the first semester
