Duration :15h Th
Credits/ECTS :
2nd "licence" chemical sciences2
Holder(s) :Jean‑Paul Chapelle
Course contents : The principles of the basic techniques applied to the principal components of the biological environments, the organization of the medical chemistry laboratories, quality control, as well as the elements of the interpretation of the results constitute the first part of the course. The second part of the course consists of a short outline of the techniques of molecular biology and their application to the medical diagnosis. In the last part, some pathologies chosen among most frequent in human medicine (diabetes, diseases cardiovascular, cancer) are replaced in their biochemical context thus allowing the description of the primary molecular lesions which cause them.
Course objective : To inform the students on a matter which is the subject of a medical specialization accessible to the bachelors in chemical sciences. To open horizons in the field of human and pathological biochemistry, and to introduce the principal examinations practised into the laboratories of clinical Biology, like their interest in human private clinic.
Prerequisites : General biochemistry, metabolic Biochemistry
Workshops : Visit laboratories.
Organization : Run interactive with the students, given to the 2nd six-month period
Written notes : A. Summary of the courses and copy of the illustrations. B. Reference works: 1. Reference mark in diagnosis of laboratory, X. Bossuyt and J.M. Boeynaems, ED. Guarantor, Leuwen, 2001. 2. Clinical biochemistry, 2nd Edition, P. Validiguié, international Medical Edition, Cachan, France, 2000.
