Course contents : Methodology of process optimisation
Analysis of a measurement system and use od redundancy. Rational design of a redundant measurement system.
Parameter identification in algebraic or differential systems
Analysis of batch processes : synthesis, production planning, energy savings in the operation of batch processes.
Course objective : Followed and complements SYST0004

This is an elctive course, the choice of topics to be analysed more in depth is generally linked to the research interest of the students and their thesis work.
Prerequisites : Course SYST0004 or similar

Good skills in applied chemical thermodynamics, évaluation of physical properties and phase equilibria.
Use of flowsheeting software
Basic notions in statistics.
Workshops : Use of modelling software.
Numerical applications to illustrate the concepts discussed during the lectures.
Organization : To be decided with students
Normally 7-8 sessions (2 hrs lecture + 2 hrs practice)
Written notes : Copy of transparencies and reference materials
Assessment : Oral examination after written preparation
