CAVS0630-2

Multidisciplinary approach to the cardiovascular system applied to physical education

Duration :25h Th, 5h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
1st "licence" in physical education3
Holder(s) :Thierry Bury, Jean‑Michel Crielaard, Marie‑Paule Defresne, Luc Pierard
Course contents : Physiotherapy, an in-depth approach:
The course in physiotherapy introduces principles of reeducation related to heart problems.
Neuro-anatomy:
The course is intended to convey information on the anatomical and functional organisation of the vegetative nervous system.
General pathology:
The courses in general pathology within this module concern heart infarcts and circulation disorders. We will describe the general physiopathological mechanisms that account for the development of infarcts, namely arteriosclerosis, cleft in the atheromatous plaque, formation of thrombus, vascular occlusion, ischemia, and tissular necrosis. Next, we will turn to a particular case of infarct: namely myocardial infarction. We will consider circumstances in which it can occur as well as its physiopathological features. The course on circulation disorders will focus on edema, embolism and thromboses.
Histology:
Histology of the heart, of blood vessels (arteries, veins, capillaries) and of lymph vessels.
Elements of special pathology:
Introduction to cardiopathies (heart troubles) that include heart revalidation in therapeutic care: stable angor, unstable angor, acute infarcts of the heart muscle, valvulopathies, hypertension, heart deficiency.
Course objective : Physiotherapy, an in-depth approach:
Theoretical and practical introduction to reeducation treatments adapted to various heart pathologies by integrating them into a multidisciplinary approach.
Neuro-anatomy:
Knowing about the anatomical and functional organisation of the vegetative nervous system makes it easier for students to understand how cardiovascular functions regulate themselves and why they may go wrong in pathological conditions.
General pathology:
Describe the physio-pathological mechanisms involved in the appearance and development of prevailing pathologies. Notions taught in this course are necessary to understand the course in special pathology.
Histology:
Relate function and histology of the described structures.
Elements of special pathology:
Bring students to understand major tenets in pathogenesis, clinical presentation, stages in the treatment of considered diseases.
Prerequisites : Cours de Kinésithérapie approfondie :
/
Neuro-anatomy:
Elementary information on the Anatomy of the nervous system as taught in secondary schools and in the introductory course to human anatomy.
General pathology:
Biochemistry, physiology, histology.
Histology:
General histology, notions of anatomy.
Elements of special pathology:
Notions of anatomy, understanding physiology and major physiopathological mechanisms.
Workshops : Histologie :
Workshop: observing histological cups with microscopes, demonstration of cups on screen.
Organization : Histology:
Organisation: two lectures of 90 minutes and one workshop of two hours.
Elements of special pathology : Organisation: five theoretical lectures of two hours.
Written notes : Physiology, an in-depth approach:
The slide shows for the various courses is available to students. Notes are currently being prepared.
Neuro-anatomy:
Course notes: Organisation anatomo-fonctionnelle du système nerveux : du symptôme neurologique à la localisation de la lésion. J. SCHOENEN (syllabus).
Histology:
Course notes: 2nd year histology syllabus (Intercopy) and CD-ROM with all the slides that are shown to students.
Elements of special pathology:
Syllabus ; CD-ROM with all the slides that are shown to students.
Assessment : Evaluation: Written examination for the cardio-vasculary module.
