Course contents : "APPs" devoted to cardio-vascular pathologies are organized on semester 8 as up and down session (8 wednesdays afternoon) during which the students, distributed in small groups (7-8 students) and supervised by two instructors (one pharmacist and one physician), examine the terms of a problem (up session). The latter describes a clinical situation in which arise the prescription of several medications (integration of physiopathological and therapeutic aspects). Starting from this context, the student has to find by himself or by groups the informations related to the terms of the problem, and has to reply to the objectives of the different courses taking part in the APPs (down session).
Course objective : By definition, "APP" ("apprentissage par problème" or training by problems) consists in the analysis of a problem with small groups of students under the supervision of one (or more) instructor(s) (teachers, assistants, representatives of the professional environment). It's a self-training process by which the student must gain more independence for analysing problems expected to occur during the exercice of his profession.
Prerequisites : Due to the pluridisciplinary character of this teaching method, the important courses followed during the previous years and during the first semester of the fourth year constitute a preparation to this course (physiopathology, biochemistry, genetic, medicinal chemistry, pharmacognosy, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmaceutical technology, ...)
Workshops : not scheduled
Organization : APPs are organized on semester 8 from the beginning of february to the end of april during wednesday afternoon (11 sessions):

- one session introducing the APP training method

- eight APP sessions (up - down)

- two closure sessions
Written notes : The students receive a "student handbook" at each new APP session. This handbook comprises several parts (summary of the problem, semantic, list of phenomenons to be explained, list of objectives, physiopathological and therapeutic scheme) and must be completed by the student for the down session.
Assessment : Written exam in may-june (first session).

Written exam in august-september (second session).
