Course contents : The course in Animal Physiology and Ecophysiology begins with the study of cell control and is continued with the study of major physiological regulations in the animal kingdom. Physiology regulation is compared between different organisms to illustrate various forms of adaptation.
Course objective : There are two main objectives to this course. The first goal is to teach basic notions of animal physiology; the second goal is to show how animals developped various physiological means to respond to a given environmental constrain.
Prerequisites : Basic notions in Biology, Cell Biology, Histology, Biochemistry and Ecology are required.
Workshops : Hands-on will mainly consists in physiological analyses of isolated organs and in exercises using demonstration softwares in Physiology.
Organization : The course consists in weekly lectures and hands-on.
Written notes : Course notes are not provided. However, notes on the bases in human physiology and hands-on experiments will be available. Understanding human physiology is important to contrast physiological mechanisms between Mammals and other animals.
Assessment : Final marks will be obtained by taking into account particiaption to hands-on, reports as well as oral and/or written examination.
