BIOC0341-1

Pathological biochemistry, including clinical chemistry (Partim II)

Duration :22,5h Th, 12,5h SEM
Credits/ECTS :
4th year of the 5 year degree in pharmacist4
Holder(s) :Jean‑Paul Chapelle
Course contents : The course is given in two parts (Partim I and Partim II).

The partim II is devoted to the study of the regulation of the functions of the organization:
1. Endocrine function of the pancreas: anomalies of the regulation of the metabolism of glucydes
2. Regulation humorale of calcium and phosphate and anomalies of the bone tissue metabolism
3. Endocrine attacks: 1. General; 2. The function neurophysaire; 3. The function antérohypophysaire; 4. Exploration thyroîdienne; 5. The hormones ovariennes; 6. The function testiculaire; 7. The function corticosurrénalienne; 8. The medullary suprarenal and the nervous system sympathetic nerve; 9. Gestation.

and with the study of some important pathologies:

Cardiovascular diseases (+ radical free and antioxydant); Autoimmune diseases; Allergies; Innate errors of the metabolism.

Two seminars are devoted to the discussion of scientific articles presented by the students, two with targeted biological explorations (exploration of serum proteins, exploration of the blood lipids,...) and two with the interpretation of biological assessments.
Course objective : The objective of the course is the knowledge of the biochemical lesions at the base of the diseases, that the anomaly comes from an error of biosynthesis due to the modification of a gene, or that it results from an acquired disturbance of molecular operation or its regulation. The course must thus lead the student to include/understand the biochemical mechanisms which underlie the phenomena normal and patholgic. The course will find its prolongation in the practical applications which aim to seek and highlight the biochemical anomalies and which is exposed in the part of the course devoted to medical Chemistry.
Prerequisites : Human biochemistry, Elements of general Pathology.
Workshops : Nothing
Organization : Run and seminars given to the 2nd six-month period.
