Anatomy of the head and neck, including the central nervous system

Course contents : The course is divided in three main sections:
1. Advanced topographic anatomy of the head and of the neck;
2. General aspects of neuroanatomy (cellular and topographic elements) (main regions)
3. Anatomo-functional organization of the sensory systems (trigeminal system, motricity, autonomic nervous system).
Course objective : - Acquire the knowledge required for a stomatological practice and which can also be used in the design and execution of research projects.
- Develop the knowledge of advanced topographic anatomy of the head and of the neck, neuroanatomy of the brain stem and cranial nerves and anatomo-functional organization of the trigemino-facial system and pain centers.
Prerequisites : Basic information on the anatomy of the nervous system taught in secondary school and during the Introduction to human anatomy course.

Nervous system series:
Cranial nerves
Brain dissection
Eye - Ear
Organization : The course features 25 hours of theory, 25 hours of practical exercises and 10 hours of PBL.

Assessment : First and second session: oral exam preceded by the identification of structures and neural pathways on illustrations and schemas. No intermediary exam.
