Course contents : Behavioural ecology of marine fishes, including

  • Protection against predators
  • Social structure
  • Reproductive strategies
  • Parental care
  • Food and feeding behaviour
  • Migrations
  • etc...
Course objective : We will demonstrate relations between animals and environment, particularly "Adaptative Strategies", as they govern the integration of the animal in its environment, and are closely related to evolutionnary processes.
Prerequisites : Basic knowledge in Animal Ecology and Animal Behaviour
Workshops : Three days (lectures and demonstration dives) during the multidisciplinary Oceanology field work in Stareso (Calvi-Corsica) http://www.stareso.com
Organization : After a day of Introductive lectures, every student will receive important and/or recent papers on a particular subject and prepair an oral presentation for the whole group.
Written notes : Summaries of oral presentation.
Assessment : Oral evaluation during the presentation.

Remarks : Scuba diving practice allows underwater demonstrations, but is not obligatory.
