Course contents : This lecture is devoted to the energy management in road and railway vehicles, to their propulsion systems (combustion engines, electric and hybrid systems, fuel cell systems), to air conditionning and thermal management of the vehicle. The environment impact receive a careful attention: emissions, fuel consumption, vibration and nuisances, recycling, etc.
Course objective : Introduction to global management of energy in vehicules and transportation systems
Prerequisites :
  • Applied Thermodynamics
  • Electric machines
  • Mechanics
Workshops : Laboratories:
  • Vehicle dynamometer, European Cycle
  • Dynamometer testing of an electric powertrain
Organization : This lecture will be given between November 1st and Christmass. It includes theoretical presentationq and seminars by invited specialists in particular topics, illustrated by laboratories and computer works
Written notes : Copy of slides and reference papers
Assessment : Evaluation is based on a personnal work and its oral presentation
