Course contents : First a complete account of the grammar of classical Greek, then, after some times, reading of texts which are prepared in advance by the students.
Course objective : This course's aim is to give to the students who had never learned any ancient Greek or who has a very little knowledge of it, to be, at the end of the year, able to understand a text in classical Greek prose, with the help of a grammar and of a dictionary.
Prerequisites : Only to want to learn ancient Greek.
Organization : How long? 60 h, first and second semesters.
Where and when? A classroom in the main building, Place du XX Août. Every year the time is fixed with the students (2 hours per week).
How? Teaching ex cathedra for the grammatical use, and then, reading texts.
Written notes : Autonoos, Le grec ancien pour grands débutants by J.-M Renaud and P. Wathelet, C.I.P.L., 2003, 2 vol. (to be bought at the classical section's secretary ships, main building, 3rd floor, from 9 to 12 on a weekday.
Assessment : Oral examination.
