Exercises in Latin I

Course contents : The lessons are essentially practical with linguistic exercises (Latin grammatical and literary prose, translation, lexicographical exercises...). Some theorical lessons on the most difficult chapters of the grammar go together with a systematic program of revisions. This program provides the study of the latin vocabulary (cf. bibliography n° 1) and the grammar (cf. bibliography n° 3 and 4). Four tests are made during the year to control the advancement of the knowledges. A cursive lecture completes the study.
Course objective : The aim of this course is to acquire a good knowledge possible of the latin language. This necessitates the study of the vocabulary, the morphology and the syntax to be able to translate, without dictionary, a latin prose text and to make a grammatical or literary prose composition.
Prerequisites : To follow this course it's necessary to have studied latin in the secondary school for at least four years.
