Course contents : After an introduction which makes a place to the minoan and mycenaean religions, cults of the main gods of the Greek pantheon are studied, places of the cult, actors of the cult, then peculiar cults as oracles, cult of the dead and the Mysteries in Eleusis or elsewhere.
Course objective : To give to the students a general view of the Greek religion and of methods to reach it, not only for the study of religious phenomenon in itself but also to explain the religious facts which are mentionned in the texts.
Prerequisites : For the students from the different sections, a degree of candidate. For free students, no prerequisite. The knowledge of ancient Greek is not necessary.
Organization : How long? 30h, 1st and 2nd semesters.
Where and when? A classroom in the main building, 3rd floor. Tuesday, from 9 to 10.
How? Teaching ex cathedra and, of course, answers to questions.
Written notes : An abreviated syullabus is available for the students, it contains some bibliographical notes.
Assessment : Oral examination.
For the students who want to it, an oral interrogation is organised, which gives them an exemption in the exams for a part of the matter.
