| GCIV0169-1 : Construction process for timber constructions
First, the main principles that influence the durability of timber construction are reminded: choice of the species, chemical protection, but above all constructive protection through appropriate design and good execution including at the detail level. A series of practical applications are showed where bad design or execution has had severe consequences. Finaly, the question is illustrated for the case of timber bridges. | |
