Philosophical anthropology of issues in medical ethics

Course contents : Critical analysis of ethical issues from a philosophical and cultural anthropology perspective. Which definitions of the human person are implicitly used in bio-ethical arguments? How does these issues shed light on the cultural dimensions of our society?
Course objective : The course provides the students with an opportunity to put into perspective ethical questions and to stimulate a learning process which places more focus on questioning than on providing answers.
Prerequisites : Having passed the 1st épreuve de Docteur en Médecine (1st year of the 2nd cycle in the degree in medicine)
Organization : 10 hours (theory) during the first semester.
Location and schedule: TBD by the Département des Sciences Cliniques.
Interactive seminars with the course organiser(s) and a specialist of the discussed ethical issue.
Written notes : Depend on the chosen topics.
Assessment : Multidisciplinary written and oral exams (January or June session: January).
